USCIS Announces FY 2027 Inflation Increase for Certain Immigration-Related Fees

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has issued a Federal Register notice that will increase certain H.R. 1 immigration-related fees for fiscal year 2027. These fee adjustments are minor and account for inflation from July 2025 through July 2026.
On July 22, 2025, USCIS published a Federal Register notice announcing the implementation of these H.R. 1 immigration-related fees. Beginning in FY 2026, and continuing for each subsequent fiscal year, the Department of Homeland Security will adjust some of these fees for inflation, as specified in H.R. 1.
The new inflation-adjusted fees are effective on Oct. 16, 2026. If you submit a request postmarked on or after Oct. 16, 2026, for a benefit that requires one of these fees, you must include the new fee for the specific benefit you are requesting. Any request postmarked on or after Oct. 16, 2026 without the proper filing fee will be rejected.

Immigration Brings America Remarkable Baseball Stories
The Los Angeles Dodgers would not be World Series champions without their immigrant players. Commentators note it provides a lesson on why businesses seek out the best talent and why America has long been open to welcoming such talent.
The most inspiring baseball performance by an immigrant in 2025 came from Dodgers pitcher (and World Series MVP) Yoshinobu Yamamoto during the World Series in October. “Yamamoto capped one of the best pitching performances in World Series history with 2⅔ scoreless innings to end the clincher,” reported ESPN. “That came one day after throwing 96 pitches in the Dodgers’ Game 6 win, and he pitched a four-hit complete game in Game 2 to help Los Angeles repeat as champions in a fantastic World Series against the Blue Jays. Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s arms were so tired, he needed help lifting the World Series MVP trophy.”
Shohei Ohtani, another well-known immigrant from Japan, set a record during a playoff victory over the Milwaukee Brewers that sent the Dodgers to the World Series by hitting three home runs as a hitter and striking out 10 batters as a pitcher. Other immigrant players proved decisive for the Dodgers, including Miguel Rojas, a native of Venezuela, who saved the team with a game-tying home run in the 9th inning of Game 7.
