Substitute House Bill 105 (HB 105) has passed the Ohio House and awaits the Governor’s expected signature. If enacted, it will create a comprehensive framework for regulating consumer legal funding and commercial litigation financing in Ohio.

With the Governor’s signature expected, medical, hospital, business, and commercial clients – and the lawyers who defend them – should begin preparing now.

The case involved a wrongful death claim concerning a resident of a long-term care facility, where plaintiff’s counsel sought $29 million in damages before the jury returned its verdict.

Congratulations to Reminger attorneys Mary Kraft, Jessica Forrest, & Brittany Kaczmarczyk! They recently obtained a favorable judgment in a Summit County Probate Court bench trial involving claims that certain estate planning changes were the product of undue influence.

The Court found that $1.2+ million in assets had been improperly transferred outside of the estate while the decedent’s cognitive condition was declining. The Court ordered the return of more than $1.2 million to the Estate, resulting in a substantial recovery for their clients.
