Today in Bradley County General Sessions Court, I successfully defended a client against a frivolous petition for contempt arising out of alleged violations of a mutual restraining order. The petitioner's primary complaint was that my client had used his First Amendment free speech rights to publicly criticize the petitioner. The General Sessions Court upheld my client's right to speak publicly, even if someone didn't like the content of his speech.

On Saturday I had the privilege of participating in the 2026 Legion Memorial Run N Gun: MACV-SOG Edition. My choice of r***e at this match was a far cry from my normal AR-pattern bias, as I ran a Century Arms MKE AP53, which is an HK53 clone shooting 5.56 out of an 8.3" barrel. I was worried that this r***e would struggle at longer distances, but it turned out that we didn't need to shoot further than about 250 yards, and the AP53 was quite capable at that range. My SIG M17 made a comeback this match as well, and it performed perfectly.

This may have been my hottest match to-date: the temperature got up to 108 degrees by mid-afternoon.

The helicopter in the background was used earlier in the day to fly in Jim Shorten, a Vietnam veteran and MACV-SOG legend.

Today I served clients in Meigs County General Sessions Court. One client had successfully completed a judicial diversion agreement he had entered a year ago, so his case was dismissed. Another client got a favorable resolution and will be released from jail today. Finally, I assisted a bonding company client in obtaining relief on a bond.

On Tuesday, in Bradley County General Sessions Court, I represented a client charged with violation of an obscure Tennessee statute. The detective who charged him acknowledged on cross-examination that he (the detective) was not aware of the law himself prior to this case. There is no Tennessee caselaw interpreting the statute. I was able to raise multiple constitutional and statutory interpretation issues during the hearing, resulting in the dismissal of the charge.

Yesterday, in Bradley County General Sessions Court, I successfully defended my client against a frivolous civil lawsuit. The plaintiff requested over $30,000 but my client walked out of the trial owing nothing.
