One of the biggest risks facing aging parents and grandparents today is elder abuse.

And it doesn’t just happen in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Sometimes it comes from people in trusted positions: caregivers, financial advisors, even family members.

Add technology to the mix, and the danger grows.

Older adults are often targeted through:
⚠️ Scam emails
⚠️ Fake robocalls
⚠️ Fraudulent links and payment requests
⚠️ Online schemes designed to exploit trust and confusion

The things that may seem obvious to younger generations, “Don’t click that link,” “Don’t give out your card number,” may not always be obvious to elderly loved ones.

That’s why these conversations matter.

Protecting our parents and grandparents means more than caring for their health. It means helping protect their finances, dignity, independence, and safety too.

These are high-stakes issues with very real consequences, and they deserve our attention before something goes wrong.

Flight cancellations are frustrating enough. But for many travelers, the real nightmare starts after the cancellation.

Hours in line. Dropped customer service calls. Endless transfers. No answers. No accountability.

The truth is, airlines move millions of passengers, and too often, customer service treats your problem like just another number. Meanwhile, you paid for a service you didn’t receive.

That’s why self-advocacy matters.

You cannot assume the airline will automatically do the right thing or fully compensate you for the inconvenience. You have to push politely, strategically, and persistently.

Document everything.
Keep your receipts.
Know what you paid for.
And don’t be afraid to ask for what you deserve.

Because when travel goes sideways, the passengers who speak up thoughtfully are often the ones who get results.

Grateful to have been featured in coverage by OK! Magazine.

Appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the discussion surrounding this evolving legal matter and to offer perspective on how post-settlement litigation can continue long after the headlines suggest a case is “over.”

One of the key takeaways in cases like this is that settlements often resolve the core dispute, but issues such as attorneys’ fees, costs, and statutory claims can remain active and highly contested. That’s exactly what we’re seeing here, a shift from liability to the technical and financial mechanics of resolution.

These are the kinds of procedural realities that don’t always make headlines, but they matter a great deal in understanding how the legal system actually operates behind the scenes.

A “settlement” doesn’t always mean the end of a legal battle.

The dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni shows exactly why.

While the core claims tied to It Ends With Us have been resolved, the case is still moving forward behind the scenes — especially around attorney’s fees, damages, and who pays what after litigation.

Here’s what’s still in play:

⚖️ Requests for attorney’s fees and potential penalties
📑 Arguments over who counts as the “prevailing party”
💰 Disputes about whether additional damages are warranted
🧠 Competing public narratives claiming “victory” on both sides

Legal experts note this is common in high-profile civil cases: even after settlement, financial and procedural issues can continue — sometimes for months.

And in celebrity litigation, there’s another layer:

👉 The legal case may shrink
👉 But the reputational battle often continues in public

A settlement closes claims — not always the story.

I never became a lawyer for the money.

I became a lawyer because I wanted to solve problems, help people who felt powerless, and make a real difference in their lives.

That’s why I’ve spent my career representing consumers on a contingent fee basis. If we don’t win for the client, we don’t get paid. Period.

When people hire me, I carry their problems with me. I think about their cases at night. I walk through the fight with them every step of the way because legal problems aren’t just legal problems, they affect families, stress levels, finances, and people’s lives.

That’s what being a consumer lawyer has meant to me for the last 35 years.

A settlement does not always mean someone “lost.”

In celebrity litigation especially, reputation can matter far more than money. That’s why the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni settlement has sparked so much conversation. No money exchanged hands, but that does not mean the outcome lacked significance for either side.

As I explained in this piece, settlements are often driven by trial schedules, rising legal stakes, and the desire to control risk and public perception — not necessarily because one side suddenly folded. And because settlements are usually confidential, the public often misunderstands what they actually mean.

Thank you to OK! News for featuring my perspective on this high-profile case.

Samsung allegedly used Dua Lipa’s image on TV boxes without her permission… and now they may be paying a very expensive price for it.

According to the lawsuit, Dua only discovered the boxes after fans started posting them on social media. Samsung’s defense? They say a third-party content provider told them they had permission to use the image.

Here’s the problem: “Trust me, dude” is not a legal strategy.

When you use a celebrity’s likeness to sell products, you’re stepping into copyright law, trademark law, and publicity rights territory. And if the permissions aren’t airtight, the exposure can be massive.

Samsung says it’s “open to a constructive resolution.” Translation in plain English? They’re probably getting ready to write a very large check.

Bad things happen to good people every single day. The question is: do you stay stuck in a victim mindset, or do you stand up for yourself?

A friend of mine paid thousands for a dental crown that failed almost immediately. He was scared to challenge the charge because he thought the dentist might come after him. Instead of staying quiet, we pushed back professionally, documented everything, and contested the charge.

The result? He got the bill wiped out and fixed the problem elsewhere for far less money.

The law can help you, but only if you’re willing to invoke it. Sometimes you have to be the squeaky wheel. Sometimes you have to flex your legal muscles.

That’s what legal wellness is all about.

One of the biggest mistakes consumers make? Thinking they’re powerless.

A friend of mine paid $2,400 for a dental crown… and it literally fell out almost immediately. He was terrified to dispute the charge because he thought the dentist might sue him.

But here’s the thing: businesses and professionals don’t always hold all the power. Once you understand your rights, the entire equation changes.

We disputed the charge, documented everything professionally and factually, and the dentist ultimately wrote off the bill. My friend then got the work fixed elsewhere for $800 less.

You do not have to roll over when something feels wrong. Legal wellness starts with changing your mindset from helpless consumer to informed consumer.

Ever notice how you’re getting hit with pop-ups, ads, and robocalls all day long? That’s not random… it’s strategy.

All that noise creates decision fatigue and when you’re mentally drained, you’re more likely to click, buy, or trust something you shouldn’t.

Worse, today’s scams aren’t obvious anymore. They’re smarter, harder to trace, and designed to look completely legitimate.

And those robocalls? They’re not just annoying they’re one of the most effective tools scammers use.

Bottom line: the more overwhelmed you feel, the more vulnerable you are. Slow down. Think twice. Protect yourself.
