Back-to-school safety starts before the first bell rings. Whether students walk, bike, ride the bus, get dropped off, or drive themselves, a few simple habits can help prevent serious injuries.
• Walkers: Use sidewalks and marked crosswalks, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing.
• Bicyclists: Wear a properly fitted helmet, ride with traffic, and stop fully at intersections.
• Bus riders: Stay well back from the curb, wait for the bus to stop, and never cross near the bus without the driver’s signal.
• Families driving: Slow down in school zones, follow the drop-off process, and never pass a stopped school bus.
• Teen drivers: Buckle up, put phones away, and give school zones their full attention.
As a community-based personal injury law firm serving Lake, Sumter, and Marion counties, we want every student to arrive safely. Please share these reminders with a parent, student, or neighbor as the school year begins.
