Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation.

We honor the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running to safety, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the countless men and women who demonstrated extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and compassion in the days that followed.

September 11 reminds us not only of profound loss, but also of the strength that can be found in unity. In one of our nation’s darkest moments, Americans stood together.

May we continue to honor those we lost by remembering their lives, recognizing the sacrifices of our heroes, and carrying forward the spirit of unity that brought our country together.
