We are pleased to announce our newest addition to the Penn & Seaborn family! Cherterria Rollins (Terri) brings a wealth of legal and administrative experience to our firm. She has been employed with the State of Alabama as a legal research assistant with the Alabama Attorney General’s Office as well as other state agencies.

With her professional background and pleasant personality, Terri is already a valuable asset to our firm, but most of all to our clients and friends. When you meet Terri, you will understand why we are thrilled to have her on board!

This year’s graduation season feels especially meaningful for me as my youngest daughter, Sophie, graduates from high school.

As I think about this season of change and new beginnings, I’m reminded of a simple but powerful piece of advice from Jon Gray at Blackstone:

“Stay calm, stay positive, and never give up.”

My encouragement to every graduate is this: step out with confidence, work hard, and make something happen. The future is waiting for you, go get after it.

Congratulations to Sophie on her high school graduation! We are so proud of all of her accomplishments. She graduated with an Advanced with Honors diploma and as the salutatorian of her class. We can’t wait to watch Sophie continue to do great things at The University of Alabama next year!

One of the greatest advantages I had growing up was being raised by two educators. They taught me early that success is not built overnight , it’s built through consistency, character, and the willingness to keep learning.

To this year’s graduates, your degree opens doors, but your attitude, work ethic, and integrity will determine how far you go once you walk through them.

Be dependable. Be kind. Show up prepared. Listen more than you speak. And never underestimate the value of treating people with respect.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! What a wonderful moment for you and your loved ones!

My humble advice to graduates is something I wish I had focused on when I was much younger, but perhaps wisdom was required to really appreciate it:

Embrace the rain as much as the sun, because we need both in order to grow. If you can sing and dance in the rain, then you're in a good spiritual place.

The late Rev. A.B. Clark used to say, "Either you're on your way into a storm or you're on your way out of one." So, try not to always focus on fearing the fierce waves and currents. Instead, allow your faith to take hold of the wheel, and learn to navigate your life safely to your destiny.
