NEWS RELEASE: Last of four extra-large super loads to move to central Ohio - https://www.transportation.ohio.gov/about-us/news/statewide/fifteenth-super-load-heading-to-new-albany
Heads up to those going to the Scioto County Fair and Ross County Fair on Friday, August 9.
EDIT: I've received a few questions about the timing of this move. I figured it would be easier to answer them here for all to see.
Q: Why it couldn't be pushed back a week to avoid the two fairs?
A: Several schools along the route return to session that week. Buses and parents trying to get students to school would be affected. We worked really hard to avoid that.
Q: Won't traffic around the fairgrounds, especially in Ross County, will be a mess?
A: The impacts directly to the Scioto County Fairgrounds will be between about 6-7am Friday. The fairgrounds open to the public at 8am.
It's a little tougher to nail down when the convoy will reach SR 104 and begin impacting the Ross County Fair because so many things can happen between Lucasville and Chillicothe. The first of these four largest loads came through in the morning since it left north of Waverly that day. It exited US 35 at 8:58am and parked at 9:38am. The second of these largest loads exited US 35 at 12:34pm and parked at 1:19pm. The third of the largest loads exited US 35 at 1:10pm and parked at 1:50pm. You can see the average time on SR 104 was about 40 minutes. You'll want to keep an eye on this page and Ohio Department of Transportation Southern Ohio District 9 for updates on where the convoy is throughout the day Friday to help you plan ahead, but I'd plan to avoid SR 104 starting at around noon until it is parked.
