I love doing these videos highlighting small town Ohio and one of the themes I have discovered is how many people see something that is missing in their town and decide to do something about it even when others tell them it can’t be done.

On my trip to Portsmouth, I learned how two moms got tired of having to travel to bigger cities for their kids to have a museum to enjoy. Despite others telling them it was impossible in a town like theirs, they took action and with the generous support of the community, kids in Portsmouth now have Candyland Children's Museum right in their town!

Is there something you wish your town had?? Maybe you are the one that needs to make it happen.

I got to stop in the Pizza Pub in Portsmouth to talk with their owner and a couple of the bartenders and really had a good time. This place is the type of place where they know your name and remember your order! I loved the pride they have in serving the local community and support for the local sports teams. What is your favorite…pizza or wings?

I don’t know a lot of things but after visiting Bella Grace Salon & Spa I know I need to get a Japanese Head Spa.

This salon is right across the street from the Scioto Ribber and offers all the basics you would expect, plus a cool room that is setup for kids to get manicures and pedicures. They also offer permanent makeup and have someone who does tattoos.

Has anyone had one of these Japanese head spas???

I love Mexican food and I have always loved when a restaurant is located within a neighborhood instead of a newer strip mall so Sonoras Mexican Grill was the perfect spot for me.

I really liked meeting the owners and learning about how they run this with help from their family.

They are planning an expansion soon! Cool spot and cool people.

Years ago on my first trip to Portsmouth, I was told I had to go eat at The Scioto Ribber. This place is legendary for their steaks and ribs and is a destination in Southern Ohio.

I got to talk to Chason, whose grandparents started this place back in the 1970’s about what makes the Ribber and Portsmouth special. He said there is just a lot of love in Portsmouth and he thinks it’s on the rise and I couldn’t agree more! What’s your favorite thing to eat at the Ribber?
