The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled against a man in battle with his mortgage lender, Blue Hills Bancorp Inc, over a bankruptcy plan. While both the Obama administration and Bank of America Corp backed the homeowner, the court said that the man cannot appeal a bankruptcy judge’s rejection of his proposed bankruptcy plan. In Bank of America’s friend-of-the-court brief they stated that allowing appeals when bankruptcy plans are rejected will help with “the orderly and uniform development of bankruptcy law.”
Chief Justice John Roberts did say that there are occasions where appeals may be allowed in similar cases.
