🚨 **Sponsoring a family member? USCIS can now check your CREDIT.**

As of August 31, 2026, there’s a NEW Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support) — and the old version gets your case REJECTED. No grace period.

What’s changed:
✅ By signing, you now authorize USCIS to pull your credit report and scores
✅ Have a credit freeze? It could DELAY your case
✅ No minimum credit score required — but your finances are under more scrutiny than ever

The Affidavit of Support was already a binding contract. Now the government can verify your numbers directly. Don’t sign until your documentation matches your reality.

**Q:** What’s the difference between a visa and a green card?

**A:** A visa permits entry into the U.S. for a specific purpose and period — such as work, study, or travel. A green card grants **Lawful Permanent Resident** status, allowing you to live and work in the U.S. indefinitely, with eligibility to apply for citizenship over time.

❌ MYTH: ‘If I marry a U.S. citizen, I automatically get a green card.
✅ TRUTH: Marriage doesn’t grant automatic status — you still have to file the correct petitions, attend interviews, and prove the marriage is genuine. The process can take months to years depending on your situation.

Don’t rely on what you heard from a friend. Talk to someone who knows the law.
