What a week it has been! Our second summer program, Winters Family Law Mini Law School, has come to an end.

Throughout the week, our students met with attorneys who generously volunteered their time to introduce them to a variety of practice areas, including Trusts & Estates, Corporate Law, Criminal Defense, Immigration Law, and more.

Students also toured Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, got to ask questions of college counselors, observed a criminal trial, received an introduction to trial advocacy skills, and even tried their first case at the Daley Center.

We are so proud of their enthusiasm, hard work, and willingness to step outside their comfort zones. Thank you to all of the attorneys, judges, and legal professionals who helped make this experience possible!

A few weeks ago, I did a presentation with Alex Volkov at XHomes Realty to a lovely group of real estate and mortgage brokers. An hour presentation turned into a two-hour lively Q&A on the interrelationship between divorce and real estate. How do you preserve a home sale when the parties are getting divorced? We are still accepting applications to the Mini Law School summer program for high school students. Our annual WFL Mini Law School is June 1–5, 2026.

This one-week program gives high school students hands-on exposure to the legal profession, including a mock trial experience.

Deadline for applying to Mini Law School summer program is coming up--April 27. Here is another review from a parent of a student from last year: " An email is not enough to thank you for this wonderful week of mini law school. I'm so impressed with how much A. learned in just one week. I can't imagine what an undertaking it was to coordinate so many amazing experiences. When I first talked with A. about it, he was apprehensive to sign up as he didn't have a passion per se for law. Well, you captivated him and he enjoyed each day. It was so fun to hear about his day. He enjoyed telling us all about the various activities you did. I am a school psychologist, so he found it fun to meet an educational attorney and to learn about guardian ad litems and asked me if I've ever worked with one. You really opened his eyes to what lawyers do and to so many career avenues. A. didn't know anyone but he said he had such a good time getting to know the other students and collaborating with them. He was sad the camp came to an end. He enjoyed the friendly competition and the teamwork atmosphere.I appreciate the emails and details of your day. A. was so impressed with the various undergraduate majors that go into law. Thank you for sharing that with the students. All too often kids think they need to know for certain what they want to do and once they decide there's no changing that. You taught these students so many skills in just one week that they will take with them for years to come. I stumbled upon this camp on a GBN facebook group.
