Bed bugs in hotels are more common than most people realize, and they have nothing to do with cleanliness. They hide in mattress seams, headboards, and luggage, and a single overnight stay can be enough to bring them home.
If you wake up with bites, see small stains on the sheets, or later discover an infestation, document everything immediately, photos, medical visits, receipts, and all communication with the hotel. What you do in the first 24–48 hours can determine whether you have a valid claim.
Hotels have a legal duty to provide safe accommodations. When that duty is ignored, guests can be left with medical expenses, damaged property, lost wages, and weeks or months of disruption.
If this happens to you, don’t guess, don’t delay, and don’t let the hotel minimize it.
