The United States is extending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation to Ukrainian citizens continuously residing in the U.S. since March 1, 2022 or earlier. To receive TPS, eligible individuals will need to apply for TPS. A person with TPS is considered lawfully present in the U.S., is protected from deportation, and is eligible to apply for a Work/Travel Permit. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security will release instructions shortly on the specific procedures on how eligible Ukrainians can apply for TPS.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the designation of Ukraine for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months.

I plead with the Biden Administration to provide Temporary Protected Status to Ukrainians in the United States.

In addition to Venezuelans, the Biden administration extends Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to Burmese nationals who are present in the U.S. during the required period. Normally, TPS grants recipients protection from deportation and allows them to secure work permits, while their home countries are experiencing humanitarian disasters or armed conflict.

Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelans and Form I-944 will soon no longer be required. Am I Alice in Wonderland or is U.S. immigration law moving in a new direction?
