The TIPS Now! Program is a leadership initiative within the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS). This program aims to cultivate young leaders by providing them with valuable involvement opportunities and leadership exposure. Participants in the program will have the chance to take on leadership roles within the Section, including positions on General Committees, Standing Committees, and Task Forces.

Participants selected for the TIPS Now! Program will be required to attend key events such as the Fall Meeting in October, the ABA Midyear Meeting, and the Section Conference typically held in May. To support their participation, participants will be reimbursed up to $500 for travel expenses per meeting.

The TIPS Now! Class of 2026-2027 will consist of six to eight individuals who will be appointed to positions on TIPS Standing Committees, such as Membership, Law in Public Service, or Diversity Committee. These participants will play a crucial role in supporting membership initiatives and will also serve on the TIPS Standing Committee on Outreach to Young Lawyers.

The TIPS NOW! Class of 2026-2027 is committed to fostering diversity in terms of practice area (plaintiff, defense, and corporate counsel), gender, and race. Candidates selected for this program will have demonstrated involvement in both bar association and non-bar related activities, showcasing a well-rounded commitment to professional development and community engagement.

While there is no requirement for applicants to currently be members of TIPS, individuals chosen to participate in the program must join both the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section. This membership requirement ensures that participants can fully engage with the resources and opportunities provided by the ABA and TIPS to further their leadership development and professional growth.

Although letters of recommendation are not required, an applicant may submit up to two, if so desired. Applications are due June 26, 2026.
