Keating Law founder Michael Shay Keating was honored this Saint Patrick's Day with inclusion into the Irish Legal 100 published by the Irish Voice Newspaper. The Irish Legal 100, founded in 2008, is an annual compilation of the most distinguished Irish legal professionals in the United States who share one common bond: pride in their Irish roots. The Irish Legal list includes United States Supreme Court Justices and the group is hosted by the Irish Ambassador at the residence in Washington D.C.

The Irish Legal 100 hails itself as widely recognized as the preeminent legal award for lawyers of Irish blood. Mike Keating's paternal family (Keating) descends from County Cork and his maternal family (Shay) from County Clare. Both families are proud Irish Americans who have contributed to Chicago's Irish Community for generations.

Keating Law founder Mike Keating was quoted in an article by Streetsblog Chicago regarding the firm’s representation of the Estate of George Christensen and the findings of investigators in South Carolina. The South Carolina HIghway Patrol concluded that the crash occurred due to the truck driver’s failure to exercise due care when he failed to observe the bicyclist on the roadway.

Keating Law clients Joseph and Marie were the focus of a Chicago Sun-Times front page article on the risks riders of e-scooters in Chicago face. One of the risks that e-scooter riders face is collisions with distracted and entitled drivers of motor vehicles who do not recognize the increasing presence of e-scooters on the city's roadways. Under the Chicago Municipal Code, e-scooter riders are entitled to the same rights and responsibilities as bicyclists under Chicago law. Like bicyclists, e-scooter riders are vulnerable users of the roadway and the risk of injury is high. Keating Law founder Mike Keating was quoted in the article on his firm's representation of e-scooter riders. Keating Law focuses part of its practice on the representation of vulnerable users of our roadways like pedestrians, bicyclists and, increasingly, e-scooter riders.

Dr. David Trotter, who runs the emergency department at Advocate Illinois Masonic, said he's seen an uptick in traumas related to e-scooters the last two years.

In just the last six months, Keating Law has recovered over $13,000,000.00 for our clients and their families. Many of these results were realized after the clients were referred to us by fellow attorneys and former clients. Our attorneys are always available to speak directly with anyone who has a case or injury they wish to discuss.

Notable settlements within the last six months include:

$5.3 Million a week before trial was to commence for an individual injured in a truck collision;

$2.5 Million for the family of a man killed in a motor vehicle collision. This settlement is believed to be record verdict for a decedent over the age of 65 in the venue;

$1 Million for a wife and mother who was injured after falling down stairs in a commercial establishment; and

$500,000.00 for a bicyclist who suffered facial injuries and an arm injury on a bicycle path in Chicagoland.

Keating Law has again been recognized by Illinois Super Lawyers magazine. Founder Mike Keating was honored as a 2024 Super Lawyers and Catelyn Viggiano as a 2024 Rising Star. The selective Super Lawyers award is comprised of only 5% of all Illinois attorneys. The Rising Stars award is granted to Illinois attorneys 40 and younger and is limited to only 2.5% of Illinois attorneys.
