Today, on Juneteenth, history, hope, and gratitude come together in a deeply meaningful way.
We're celebrating the official opening of the Obama Presidential Center, a powerful new space dedicated to preserving history, inspiring leadership, and investing in future generations. I was honored to receive a sneak peek of this extraordinary campus and witness firsthand the vision and promise it represents.
This day is also personally significant for me. It marks the anniversary of returning home after experiencing a devastating fire. Coming back home was more than a milestone—it was a reminder that even after loss, rebuilding is possible, hope endures, and new beginnings can emerge stronger than before.
Perhaps that's why today's opening of the Obama Presidential Center resonates so deeply. Both stories speak to resilience, restoration, and the power of community.
As we honor Juneteenth and celebrate this historic opening for Chicago, I'm filled with gratitude for home, for healing, and for the opportunities that come when we continue to move forward with faith and purpose.
Congratulations to the Obama Foundation and everyone who helped bring this remarkable vision to life. Chicago shines a little brighter today.
