Civitas ChildLaw Center Offers three graduate degrees: J.D. and LL.M. in Child and Family Law and an Online MJ (Master of Jurisprudence) in Children's Law and Policy candidates.

Our mission is to promote justice for children through interdisciplinary teaching, scholarship and service, and through the development of a new legal specialty, pediatric law. The ChildLaw Center was established in 1993 through the vision and generosity of Jeffrey Jacobs, a Loyola Law School alumnus and the founder of the Civitas Initiative. The Office of the Public Guardian is looking to hire an attorney to represent children in contested custody and visitation cases. As child representative, attorneys advocate for the best interest of our clients regarding custody, visitation, support, removal from the jurisdiction, and risk of harm in orders of protection.

Attorney advocacy includes investigating the child’s situation, relationships, and allegations made by either party in order to take an informed position regarding what is in the child’s best interest.

The Racial Equity in Education Law (REEL) & Policy Clinic at Georgetown Law is hiring for a Teaching Fellow for a two-year term starting in the summer of 2026!

Georgetown Law is home to the preeminent clinical legal education program in the country. Launched in the Spring of 2022, the Racial Equity in Education Law & Policy Clinic (REEL Policy Clinic) is one of Georgetown Law’s newest clinics. The work of the REEL Policy Clinic sits at the intersections of legislative lawyering and advocacy for racial equity in public education. Foremost, the REEL Policy Clinic works to instill legislative lawyering skills in second and third-year law students, including legislative drafting, legislative research, writing for policy audiences (including fact sheets, policy briefs, white papers, legal memoranda, and reports), oral advocacy before legislative bodies and education decision-makers, collaboration, coalition-building, and relationship-building with clients.

The application deadline is May 1, 2026.

Grant-funded Attorney Position-Maryland OPD Decarceration Initiative

The Maryland Office of the Public Defender's Decarceration Initiative is seeking an attorney for a one-year grant funded position to begin early next year. They hope to fill the position quickly. The current close date for applications is 12/1/2025.

The Decarceration Initiative aims to reduce mass incarceration in Maryland by providing representation to people eligible to file motions to reduce their sentences after serving long periods of incarceration, under the Juvenile Restoration Act or Second Look Act. This is a grant-funded position that is currently funded through December 2026.

You are invited to the 12th Annual Education Law: A Year in Review at Loyola University Chicago School of Law on June 24. This annual event will cover key legal and policy developments in education, including:

- a Supreme Court update;
- a presentation on educational equity in the current moment;
- a special education update;
- an overview of how schools can prepare for immigration enforcement activities;
- an update on Title IX and Civil Rights; and
- legislative and policy updates from the Illinois State Board of Education

The program will feature expert speakers such as Mark Walsh (Education Week, ABA Journal, SCOTUSblog), Nicki Bazer (Franczek P.C.), Beatriz Diaz-Pollack (Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights), Professor Mark Weber (DePaul College of Law), and Dan Schorr and Alyssa-Rae McGinn (Title IX and Civil Rights Podcast).

This is an in-person event, though the Title IX and Civil Rights session will also be available via Zoom webinar. Attendees will enjoy lunch during the program and a reception afterward.

The event is approved for 4 general CLE credits by the Illinois MCLE Board. Both the program and CLE credits are offered at no cost, but CLE credit is available only to those attending in person.

Florence Project is hiring an Advocacy Attorney: "The Advocacy Attorney, in concert with the Advocacy Team Managing Attorney and other team members, will engage in representation of clients before the Federal District Court of Arizona in Federal Tort Claims Act, Freedom of Information Act, Mandamus, Habeas, and other district court cases. The Advocacy Attorney will also represent clients before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals as necessary. Additionally, the Advocacy Attorney will engage in national advocacy efforts, including plaintiff identification in coordination with other legal advocacy groups, strategic appeals and amici, comments to proposed rules, national legal advocacy initiatives with partner organizations, and media outreach.
