Gould Grieco & Hensley (GGH) was appointed by The Sacramento Superior Court to serve on the Plaintiffs’ Leadership Counsel’s Executive Committee in the California Women’s Prison Abuse Litigation, where Partners Guinness Costello, Martin Gould and Bryce Hensley have been tasked with helping steer and coordinate the litigation on behalf of thousands of survivors.
In August 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it had determined that California Women’s prisons had violated the Constitution by failing to protect female prisoners from s*xual abuse and harassment by staff. DOJ Investigators uncovered a longstanding pattern of sustained staff s*xual misconduct, inadequate safeguards, failures in confidential reporting, improper investigative practices, and insufficient accountability measures.
GGH’s appointment marks the third significant court-appointed leadership role for the Firm in California as the Firm was also appointed Liaison Counsel in the Los Angeles County Juvenile Detention Center Abuse Litigation, involving more than 6,000 survivors; and was appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Leadership Committee in the Dr. Barry Brock physician s*xual abuse litigation, involving over 1,000 survivors.
Across all three cases, GGH attorneys have been chosen by Courts to lead some of California’s largest institutional s*xual abuse litigations, advancing the cases and causes of thousands of survivors seeking accountability and justice.
