As we close out our Volunteer of the Year spotlight series, we are ending with someone whose commitment reminds us that access to justice is built one relationship, one visit, and one act of advocacy at a time.
Legal Aid Chicago’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for residents living in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and skilled nursing facilities across Illinois. Volunteer Ombudsmen work directly with residents, families, facility staff, and outside agencies to investigate concerns, protect resident rights, and improve quality of life.
Volunteer of the Year honoree Vince Kelley has dedicated nearly 20 years to serving as a Volunteer Ombudsman and is the longest-serving volunteer in the program.
For two decades, Vince has shown up for residents with compassion, consistency, and care, ensuring they understand their rights and receive the quality of care they deserve. He regularly advocates across multiple facilities, helping resolve concerns and improve quality of life for residents and their loved ones.
At this year’s Annual Luncheon, we were proud to recognize Vince and celebrate nearly 20 years of extraordinary service and advocacy.
