AI could never. Here's what actually happened.

A buyer's agent had questions about a listing, specifically about street noise and whether the interior stairs would work for their client. Instead of guessing or sending over what was already in the file, I went back to the condo myself.

I stood there and listened for the street noise so I could give a real, firsthand answer.

Then I took a video of the stairs so the buyer could actually see what they were walking into.

In that moment I wasn't just a real estate agent pulling comps and scheduling showings. I was the person who went back twice because someone deserved a real answer before making one of the biggest decisions of their life.

Those details might seem small. But when someone is figuring out where to live, small details are everything.

Technology can make the process easier, but it can't go back to a condo on a Tuesday to listen for street noise.

After nearly nine years in real estate, I've learned a few things.

Some lessons came from experience, some from mistakes, and some from clients who completely changed the way I see this business.

Listening closely matters just as much as knowing the market.

Every client has a different reason for moving. The best advice starts with understanding what that reason actually is.

Always ask the extra question. Always check the detail in person.

The house you think you'll love isn't always the one. And that's okay.

No one has ever regretted asking me a "dumb question." I have watched people regret not asking one.

A house can check every box and still not feel right. Trust that feeling.

Staying in touch throughout the process isn't extra, it's the job.

My clients may forget the details of the transaction, but they'll remember how I made them feel.

And after nearly nine years, the lesson I'm still learning?

Stepping away from my phone. I care deeply about being available, but I'm figuring out that I can show up fully for my clients and still make time for my family and myself.

A lot can change in a year.

Picture next October: your front porch decorated, a mahjong game going in the dining room, friends over for football, and the dogs finally having a backyard to run around in.

A little bit behind the scenes on what life's been like in my world lately... here's my October Report!

Rocking Out To: Foster the People and Sofi Tukker have taken over my September and I have zero complaints. Both concerts are on the calendar and my October playlist is already set.

Eating: Meeting clients at Colectivo Coffee on Southport has been my move this month. Good coffee, good energy, great spot for a first conversation.

Preparing: American Horror Story drops September 24th and I am fully ready to lean into the spooky season through all of October.

On My Radar: Watching how buyers are responding to price changes right now. Some homes are still moving fast, but when a property has been sitting a little longer, buyers have more room to negotiate. Seeing a lot of price reductions both in the city and the suburbs.

Recommending: Still on the hunt for the perfect sports bar to watch the Lions. Drop your suggestions below, I genuinely need them.

Thankful: My family, Vito and Violet, mahjong nights, live music, and every client who trusts me with something as big as buying or selling a home. This job keeps me connected to people and neighborhoods I love.

Green flags about Chicago I want everyone to know:

Every city has its selling points. These are the ones I find myself bragging about without being asked.

🟢 The Logan Square farmers market on a Sunday morning. Locals show up every week like it's a religion.

🟢 You can be at the lakefront in 15 minutes from almost anywhere on the north side. That never gets old.

🟢 Every neighborhood has its own personality. Bucktown feels nothing like Ukrainian Village, which feels nothing like Avondale. You don't just move to Chicago, you move to your neighborhood.

🟢 The patios here are dog-friendly and the local events actually welcome them. Vito and Violet have a better social life than most people I know.

🟢 People are always surprised by how welcoming it is. This city has an energy that pulls you in fast.
