$2 MILLION MEDICAL MALPRACTICE SETTLEMENT

Matthew Ports and Alex Marsh secured a $2 million settlement in a medical malpractice and wrongful death case involving the tragic death of a patient following surgery.

Our client suffered a critically elevated potassium level postoperatively. The critical result was not timely communicated to a physician therefore emergency measures were not taken. Several hours later, she suffered multiple cardiac arrests and ultimately passed away.

While no settlement can undo the loss of a loved one, accountability can provide families with a measure of justice and help protect their future.

On September 7, 2025, a 48-year-old driver and her 28-year-old daughter sustained injuries when a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction failed to yield the right of way and turned left at a controlled intersection cutting off the claimantsโ€™ vehicle and causing a collision. The mother sustained a fractured sternum and broken ribs and the daughter sustained fractures to her right finger (requiring surgical pin placement), left wrist and left foot, as well as associated contusions and abrasions.

$1.4M Medical Malpractice Settlement - Wrongful Death of 78-year-old (Lake County, IL)

78-year-old gentleman underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) on Christmas Day. The general surgeon caused injury to the Common Bile Duct and Left and Right Hepatic Ducts. The injury was discovered days later. Repair was attempted 3 months later but was unsuccessful and the patient died shortly thereafter. The case settled shortly before trial was to start.
