$2,300,000.00 Policy Limits Trucking Accident Settlement in 3 months by Regina P. Etherton & Associates, LLC! Plaintiff Rear-Ended Two Trucks!

This case emanated from a multi-vehicle trucking collision on 12/12/24. Plaintiff was driving a truck westbound on I-80 near Aux Sable Township, Illinois behind two trucks. The 1st truck in line had been driven at a speed far below the minimum statutory speed for an extended period of time due to a mechanical issue. The 2nd defendant truck operator, as he approached the rear of the 1st vehicle, slammed on his breaks and swerved onto the shoulder in an effort to avoid hitting it.

The plaintiff, who was behind the 2nd defendant’s truck, was unaware of the 1st defendant’s driving behavior as his movement was blocked by the 2nd defendant’s truck. The plaintiff could not move into the left lane to avoid a collision because of traffic in that lane and could not move onto the shoulder because the 2nd defendant’s vehicle was obstructing the path. The plaintiff, having nowhere to go to avoid the collision, rear-ended the 2nd defendant’s truck that was extending into his lane and the 1st defendant’s truck. The cab of plaintiff’s truck caught fire during the impact.

The plaintiff suffered leg, back and facial injuries. Plaintiff’s wife sued for loss of consortium.

The parties settled this case within 3 months of it being filed.

The deceased, a pregnant young mother, went to a hospital with complaints of back pain and was discharged with medication to treat a UTI. She remained on this medication for ten days before collapsing at home. She was taken to the emergency room, where she and the baby were pronounced deceased.

The plaintiff, a middle-aged male, went to an undisclosed physician for evaluation of a neck mass. The mass was surgically removed, and after surgery the plaintiff experienced pain and weakness in his shoulder.
