For years, our founders Jonathan Merel and Melissa Caballero Dunn had a vision for what a modern family law office should look like.

We didn’t want an office that felt cold and unwelcoming. That is not what our clients need when they're walking in on one of the hardest days of their lives.

In 2024, we made it happen at our Chicago HQ at 440 W Randolph. Here's what we built:

- State of the art Zoom courtrooms so clients don't have to stress about rushing to court for a hearing
- A dedicated meditation room for clients and team members who need a moment to reset
- A kids room and GAL spaces designed with comfort in mind because the children involved in these cases deserve to feel safe when they walk through our doors
- Collaborative conference rooms that make difficult conversations feel like discussions between people working toward a solution, not interrogations
- A hospitality lounge with foosball, ping pong, a putting mat, kick scooters, and a full bar for team happy hours
- A Peloton room for a workout
- A podcast room with a full professional setup

The space a client walks into shapes how they feel before they ever sit down with an attorney. We wanted them to feel welcome and taken care of from the second they walked in. The team feels it too.

Please join us in welcoming Jody Meyer Yazici to Merel Family Law as a Partner.

If you practice family law in Illinois, you already know Jody's work. Since 1993, she has authored The Illinois Practice of Family Law, the reference set relied on by judges and practitioners across the state. She released the 25th Edition this March through Thomson Reuters (West Publishing), continuing the project she began as a Cornell Law student working alongside the late Muller Davis.

Jody brings more than 30 years of experience across all aspects of family law, from complex property division and valuations to custody, support, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. She has been repeatedly named to the Leading Lawyers Network and served for years on the Chicago Council of Lawyers' judicial evaluation committee.

We are so proud to have her on the team. Welcome, Jody!

We’ve watched moms show up to court on two hours of sleep and still be the most composed person in the room. We’ve watched them fight for their kids with everything they had and watched them walk through one of the hardest seasons of their life and somehow still make sure their children felt completely safe.

Mothers don’t need a holiday to prove what they’re worth, but they deserve one. Happy Mother’s Day.
