I was in the middle of one of my first jury trials that day. When we got to court we were informed that due to the events that morning all trials were being declared mistrials and instructed to leave the Daley Center. After then going to my office (50th Floor of the
RR Donnelly building) we were instructed to grab our things and immediately leave. Seeing planes flying over the city out of my window was unnerving to say the least-especially with the news that the Sears Tower was a potential target.
Perhaps some of you are too young to remember and to understand how America (the world) forever changed that day, but please, NEVER FORGET. Here’s to the families of all those that perished including our brave first responders. We are forever thankful for your unselfish service.
