We would like to offer a HUGE congratulations to our own Karen Budd-Falen. Karen, one of our senior partners, was appointed to be the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Interior for the Trump Administration.

We will miss her dearly in Cheyenne but are looking forward to seeing the good she can do for our country!

Karen Budd-Falen traveled out to the Almond Alliance Annual Meeting 2024 in Lihue to talk about endangered species - specifically the likely listing of the monarch butterfly in California.

The Biden Administration recently released new regulations that change Candidates Conservation Agreements with Assurances to Conservation Benefit Agreements.

The point of these agreements is to create a contract between the US Fish and Wildlife Service (the agency that implements the Endangered Species Act) and landowners who are at risk of having potential threatened or endangered species on their property.

The landowners design conservation measures that are tailored to their operation that allows them to continue operating on their farms and ranches while providing habitat for at risk species. If a landowner signs up for one of these agreements and implements those conservation measures, their land will be exempt from further regulations due to listing and critical habitat designation.
