Under a new Missouri law, teachers, school counselors, school professionals, mental health professionals, home health workers, volunteers or personnel of a community service program that offers support or advocacy services for children in foster care (plus other individuals listed in the statute) are now MANDATORY REPORTERS of animal abuse or neglect. They don't have to personally observe the abuse or neglect, but just have "reasonable cause to suspect that an animal has been or may be subjected to abuse or neglect. . . ." That could mean that a teacher overheard their students talking about the mistreatment of an animal. Big win for protecting animals in the State of Missouri. That new statute can be found here:

Animal abuse or neglect suspected, hotline report to MACA — information to be requested, report to law enforcement — immunity from liability, when — confidentiality — failure to report, procedure — expiration date.

For those of you following the Missouri redistricting "circus" that all the national media is going crazy about, there's a live hearing at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday) at the Missouri Supreme Court that you can listen to here: https://www.courts.mo.gov/page.jsp?id=1975 The issue is whether Missouri's Secretary of State, Denny Hoskins, should be held in contempt of court (and possibly jailed). For us lawyers, it's an incredibly complex issue that pits state law against federal law and competing and conflicting court orders from from a state court and a federal court. Stay tuned . . . it's gonna end up in the US Supreme Court shortly.

Interesting. The Official 2026 US Income Brackets/Classes were recently announced:

• Poverty: Under $15,960 for an individual.
• Near Poverty: $15,960 to $31,920
• Lower Income: $31,920 to $55,820.
• Lower Middle Class: $55,820 to $83,730.
• Middle Class: $83,730 to $125,595.
• Upper Middle Class: $125,595 to $167,460.
• Upper Class: $167,460 and above.

I would not have come close in guessing these. Some I vastly overestimated and some I underestimated. Thoughts?
