Prenup season is winding down, as wedding seasons gears up.

This is a question we definitely get a lot and there are some high profile celeb prenups rumored to have infidelity clauses. Generally, these clauses can be used to deter cheating in a marriage, but may not be enforceable if they are viewed as a punishment of the cheating. It's not easy to achieve a consequence for cheating that a Court would not view as a punishment, but it's always worth a try!

For more on this, check out our blog post from a couple weeks ago. Wondering if you should have a prenup or put an infidelity clause to your prenup? You know who to call!

There is no such thing as consulting with a lawyer too early. Meeting with a lawyer before any decisions are made can help you formulate a plan. That way, you can make decisions when you know you understand your rights, the process, how the law will treat your assets and debts, and what to expect, rather than guessing.

Today is National Hamburger Day, which has more to do with family law than you might think.

Okay, no it doesn't, but we did poll our team with a hamburger-related and the discourse did not disappoint. Nor did our new burger friend.

📣Calling all Swifties📣

If you've been losing sleep about prenups in light of all the Tayvis news and speculation, fret not. Up on the blog is everything you never knew you wanted to know about prenups, Taylor-coded.

Not a Taylor Swift stan? The same blog without the TayTay references is coming soon so you can write your own Love Story (couldn't resist *one* reference in the caption!) without needing to know any deep cuts.

Children do not simply get to decide, because they are children, not parents. However, in New Jersey, a newly changed custody statute emphasizes a child's preference in custody decisions. The age of the child, their maturity level, and other facts are important to how much weight a Judge will give the child's preference, and that is only of many factors that the Court must consider.

Now it's time for the broad overview, definitely oversimplified, of a litigated divorce in Pennsylvania. (If you missed New Jersey's last week, it's pinned to the grid!).

Can you try to work things out or settle your case before filing a Complaint? Yes (and we strongly recommend this)! Can you go to mediation at any time during this process, even before filing? Yes! Are divorce cases likely to go to Trial? No! Is there more you need to know about a Pennsylvania divorce? Of course! This is just an overview of the typical main steps in a litigated case. Every case is different and there are tons of nuances that we could not possibly capture in a graphic. That's why we are here, though; Facebook is here for pretty pictures, experienced family law attorneys can answer your individual questions.
