Delays in new firefighting apparatus and parts deliveries, along with dramatically rising costs, are affecting fire departments nationwide. The Cherry Hill Fire Department faces these same challenges, with fire trucks that are often older than the firefighters operating them.
Our CHFD Motor Maintenance mechanics, proud members of International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2663 alongside your Cherry Hill Professional Firefighters, work tirelessly to keep our fleet operational and serving our community. However, these soaring costs and multi-year apparatus delivery delays remain a growing concern for fire departments everywhere. We thank the IAFF for their continued advocacy on this critical issue at the national level.
In the summer of 2023, a third of the fire engines owned by the fire department in Kansas City, Kansas, were unusable.
