Two women recently lost their lives after leaving a World Cup Fan Zone. It's a heartbreaking reminder that the greatest risks aren't always inside the stadium.
Large sporting events create crowded sidewalks, heavy traffic, distracted drivers, and unfamiliar road conditions. Whether you're a local resident or visiting from another country, staying alert after the event is just as important as enjoying the match.
If you're walking to your car, rideshare pickup, hotel, or public transit:
• Use marked crosswalks whenever possible.
• Stay visible, especially after dark.
• Avoid distractions like your phone.
• Be aware of vehicles entering and leaving parking areas.
• Never assume a driver sees you.
