Meet the Legal Bulldog: Jason Gillis

Next up in our team introductions is Jason Gillis. A former Plaintiff in a legal action himself, Jason has a unique perspective and empathy with plaintiffs seeking to restore justice through a lawsuit. Personal inconvenience is not in Jason’s vocabulary, and he will leave no legal or factual stone unturned as he refuses to take no for an answer.
Recently Jason argued for the safety of Washington state motorists, advocating that commercial truck drivers must use the amount of care that is commensurate with the danger of operating large commercial tractor trailer on the road next to smaller cars.
The Washington state Court of Appeals agreed, declaring a commercial CDL driver's duty of reasonable care encompasses their knowledge and expertise as a CDL driver. An opinion affirmed by the Washington State Supreme Court, which denied reconsideration.
Before his legal career, Jason worked as Director of Finance at Warner Bros. Studios. Deep research and advocacy led Jason to craft arguments that led to more than $75 million in settlement recoveries for WB. His work in Hollywood left him yearning for a more meaningful career helping others. Jason began working as a Plaintiff’s lawyer, zealously fighting for those who have been injured by the negligence and recklessness of others; securing settlements for injured Plaintiffs, rather than corporations.

- The "Plaintiff’s Mindset": His background as a Plaintiff leads Jason to doggedly seek justice over obstruction. Jason used his experience to change careers and help others pursue justice and restoration. Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ). He works tirelessly to

Before joining Truck Wreck Justice, Danny worked as an insurance defense attorney. Today, he uses that industry knowledge to anticipate the tactics insurance companies use and ensure they are held fully accountable for the harm they cause.

⚖️ Danny Ellis Makes New Law in South Dakota! ⚖️

Big news for road safety: attorney Danny Ellis of Truck Wreck Justice just secured a landmark ruling from the South Dakota Supreme Court.
In Hamer v. Cornerstone Poured Foundations, the Court ruled that federal safety regulations (FMCSRs) now set the legal standard of care for commercial drivers in our state.

The Victory:
- Negligence Per Se: Breaking federal safety laws can now be considered negligence as a matter of law.
- Fatigue Matters: Juries must be allowed to consider federal rules regarding driver fatigue.
- Expert Power: The ruling ensures specialized safety experts can testify to help juries understand commercial wrecks.

Morgan isn't just an attorney; he’s a retired U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel who brings that same "never back down" mission mindset to every case. With over 30 years of experience, Morgan has dedicated his career to fighting for victims of serious commercial vehicle wrecks across the country.
