Whether you are guiding your own little ones, other’s littles whose blood also runs through your veins, those you’ve adopted as your own, or those you’ve just met at the moment your eyes connected and you shared loving guidance with them. You are a Mother who shapes their world and ours each day.

Today we honor you.

We honor the last-night feeding of your child when you need sleep. We honor the hand that grasps that tiny, pudgy little’s hand as you walk across the street. We honor you in all the little things you do from a full heart that are seldom seen.

And we honor your broken heart when you see the flag draped across your son’s body or your fragile little girl’s body ravaged by leukemia. We see the giant spirit you hold in service to your beautiful children who carry down syndrome, autism, or who are nonverbal and yet you understand everything they communicate with you.

For every act of kindness, every sleepless night, every aching back, and every tear you’ve shed…we are grateful to you as Mothers: the strongest, gentlest creatures on earth.
