Earlier today both Congressman Ben Cline and Senator Mark Peake spoke
about security concerns since the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Congressman Ben Cline announed that he held a townhall meeting inside a courthouse in Lexington, a city where he recieved about 35 percent of the vote in 2024, to speak to voters in a secured venue with a police presence.
Senator Mark Peake spoke about credible death threats that two members of the Virginia House of Delegates received, including one where the children of the delegate were threatened, where the individuals making the threat have been arrested.
Additionally, Senator Peake mentioned a Virginia Republican Senate Caucus meeting in Charlottesville where he saw a man, upset that Republican senators were in attendance, stated that he wanted the exits blocked so that if there was gunfire they would not be allowed to leave the building.
Threats against Republican elected officials, conservative activists and others are very real.
As conservatives we choose to not live in fear, but we do need to be aware of our surroundings as we live in a time where heightened security is absolutely necessary.
