🏡 Who gets the house is one question. Who can afford to keep it is another.

For many families, a home represents far more than property.

It is where children grew up. Where holidays were celebrated. Where family gathered around the table. Where decades of memories were made.

So when we think about leaving that home to someone we love, it is natural to focus on who will receive it.

But thoughtful estate planning asks another question: Will they be prepared for everything that comes with it?

A home can also come with a mortgage, property taxes, insurance, maintenance, repairs, and other ongoing responsibilities. Leaving someone an asset and leaving them prepared to manage that asset are not always the same thing.

Texting back in the day was not for the weak. If you wanted to send one message, you had to be committed. You needed patience, focus, and the willingness to press that 7 button four times just to get an S. 😂

Life was slower then, but maybe that was not all bad.

This week’s reminder is that not everything meaningful should be rushed. Good communication takes effort. Strong relationships take effort. Protecting your family’s future takes effort too.

We may live in a world that wants everything instantly, but some of the best outcomes still come from being intentional, thoughtful, and willing to do the work.

Also, if you survived flip phones, T9 texting, and limited minutes, you can survive just about anything this week throws at you. 😅
