September 11th was one of the saddest and most painful days in our nation’s history. Some of my friends were in the surrounding area that day, and thankfully, none of them were inside the buildings.

Like so many Americans, I will never forget exactly where I was when I learned that our country was under attack. As an American, it was heartbreaking to witness such violence against our nation and our people.

Even today, it pains me to see hatred, division, and violence within our own communities. September 11 reminds us how precious life is—and how important it is for us to stand together as Americans. We must never forget those who were lost, the families whose lives changed forever, and the courage of the first responders who ran toward danger to save others.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

El TPS estaba programado para vencer el 9 de septiembre, pero el gobierno no anunció su cancelación.

A Southern Connecticut State University student-athlete was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents while preparing to board a flight Sept. 4 at Tweed New Haven Airport, according to court records.

Deng Dhieu Kuach Deng, 19, is overstaying his visa according to federal immigration officials. Overstaying a visa is generally a civil immigration violation, although it is not a criminal offense under federal law. Deng has pending asylum and Temporary Protected Status applications, and recently received federal work authorization, according to newly filed court documents challenging his detention.

ICE officers arrested Deng as he prepared to board a domestic flight from Tweed to North Carolina, where he planned to visit his girlfriend, according to a habeas corpus petition filed in U.S. District Court in Connecticut. Deng's attorneys contend the arrest of the basketball player was unlawful and are seeking his release.
