An evening well spent. 💙

Kerry and Melissa (and Melissa's husband) joined fellow NARI Charlotte members last evening at Charlotte Rescue Mission, where they prepared and served dinner to an incredible group of men.

The gratitude, kindness and determination of the men we met made an impression on us. They were welcoming, hardworking and focused on moving forward, and it was truly an honor to spend the evening serving them.

Thank you to NARI Charlotte for bringing members together for an opportunity to give back, and to Charlotte Rescue Mission for the important work you do in our community every day.

It was a great morning connecting with our South End neighbors at the South End, Charlotte Business Owners Meeting at the beautiful new restaurant Flora eat drink love!

Melissa represented Skufca Law and heard updates from Officer Dustin Lawrence, South End’s new Community Coordinator, including encouraging news about decreasing crime in the area. Miller Yoho with the Charlotte Sports also shared more about the continued growth of sports in Charlotte and the impact these events are bringing to our city.

We’re especially excited for the upcoming Charlotte Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K, with the course coming right near our South End office!

Our South End Shuffle may not have 13,000 runners yet 😉, but the Marathon sounds like the perfect opportunity to practice putting together some great South End cheer stations. We’ll consider it training for September 11, 2027, when the Shuffle returns!

We love being part of a neighborhood that continues to grow, connect and show up for one another.

Yesterday, Skufca Law was proud to sponsor Home Builders Association of Greater Charlotte Her Story luncheon, celebrating the achievements, leadership, and impact of women in the construction industry.

One message came through loud and clear: be confident in the knowledge you have. Women are often natural “helpers”—solving problems, supporting others, and making sure things get done. But being a helper and being a leader are not mutually exclusive. Women bring valuable perspective, intuition, experience, and leadership to the table—and they belong there.

Evan Bermudez had the opportunity to speak with the group about taking that same confidence into estate planning. Women need to be active participants in their estate plans—not simply because they deserve a seat at the table, but because they are statistically more likely to outlive their husbands. In 2024, life expectancy in the U.S. was 81.4 years for women compared with 76.5 years for men.

That means women may ultimately be the ones making important decisions about family, finances, assets, and legacy. Being involved in the plan today matters.

Planning matters. Being prepared matters. And trusting what you know matters.

Thank you, HBAGC, for putting together such a motivating event and for creating a space to celebrate the women helping shape the future of construction. We were proud to be part of it.

Today, Marketing Director Melissa had the opportunity to attend the NARI Charlotte WIN luncheon, where one theme continued to come up in conversations: the importance of the customer experience.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference—communicating a little more, listening a little closer, helping out a peer, or simply taking the time to accommodate a customer’s preferences.
