Throughout my studies pursuing my Associates in Paralegal Technology, I was conditioned to understand the importance of the role of a notary. I learned how a notary contributes to all important transactions from family and civil matters to real estate transactions.

It’s safe to say that being a notary was not just a request but a requirement.

In 2015, after being laid off as a Paralegal in Jacksonville, NC, I decided to move to Charlotte, NC to begin a new life.

Although I did not pursue a paralegal role immediately, I wanted to stay involved in the legal industry some how, some way.

In 2016, I took a class, and by June, I was sworn in as notary for North Carolina. Awesome!!! Great!!! But what now?!

I started at a new company as a Systems Analyst. I know you’re thinking “How do you go from Paralegal to Systems Analyst?” Well I wonder myself; but you have to do whatever is necessary to keep going. You can probably imagine how much I felt out of place going from legal to a tech role.

While colleagues are getting acquainted with each other, a gentleman by the name of Alexander Harris decided to sit beside me . He seemed very interested in what I had going on. Not in a way wheres he’s making a pass, but genuinely interested. As the days went on, I discovered he was a brand manager. One day he asked “Have you ever thought about starting a business?” I replied, “I’ve never given it any thought.”

That is the day my whole life changed….
