DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS
October is nationally recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. There are many efforts throughout the country to increase awareness and resource referrals for victims and families
impacted by domestic violence. As we all see in our day-to-day jobs, domestic abuse impacts every
Michigan community, regardless of s*xual orientation, race, religion, ability, age, and gender
identity.
If you are interested in learning about domestic abuse initiatives and resources, please check out
some of these organizations:
1. The Division of Victim Services is proud to announce the launch of the Michigan Domestic Violence Hotline. Victims/ survivors, their support people, and those professionals who serve them
in the state of Michigan can contact the Hotline via phone, text, TTY, and chat. The Hotlines are available 24/7 /365 and is both free and confindential. Visit www.Michigan.gov/DVHotline for
contact information and to find domestic violence services in your area.
2. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV). The NCADV's 2022 toolkit for Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is available online. You can find this, and many more valuable resources, by visiting https://ncadv.org/2022DVAM.
3. The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) has also released a 2022 toolkit. They are hosting a number of events, including chat sessions and community-base action. You can read all about the NNEDV's resources at https://nnedv.org/content/ week-action-2022
4. The National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV) is recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month by offering free informative materials and event opportunities. You can find these

For the 17th consecutive year, NNEDV will conduct a one-day unduplicated count of adults and children seeking domestic violence services in the United States.
