While the primary focus is COVID-19 and the impact the disease itself is having on our daily lives, it is perhaps easy to overlook some of the other health issues being isolated can present. Those with mental health issues that can be predisposed to feelings of isolation, can feel the effects of the forced isolation on a higher level than most. Today, we celebrated Veteran’s Day. It was 100 years ago to the day that the Great War came to an end on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour of 1918. Long before that Armistice and now a 100 years since, men and women of all races, religions, ethnicities and backgrounds have served, fought, bled and died to defend these United States. May each of us thank those veterans we still have with us and remember those who have gone on before us. For me, I’d like to thank my father, Mark Shaffer, for his service in the United States Navy.
