WORKERS’ COMPENSATION – SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY – SSI

Legal Practice

For nearly 35 years, Mr. Gerwig has represented clients nationwide before the West Virginia Office of the Insurance Commission, West Virginia Workers’ Compensation Office of Judges, West Virginia Workers’ Compensation Board of Review, and the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. Mr. Gerwig is also an active member of the West Virginia State Bar Workers’ Compensation Committee.

In addition to his extensive Workers’ Compensation practice, Mr. Gerwig represents disabled individuals in Social Security Disability and SSI claims before the Social Security Administration Office of Hearings and Appeals. He has received favorable decision in over 85% of those claims. Mr. Gerwig is a member of the West Virginia State Bar Social Security Disability Committee.

Mr. Gerwig is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the United States District Court for the Southern Distict of West Virginia, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

EDUCATION

Mr. Gerwig attended University of Maryland, Harvard University and University of California, Santa Barbara (field research Masi Mara, Kenya, Africa), before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington College in 1982. He obtained a Juris Doctorate degree in law from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 1985.

Attorney and Practice Magazine selected Mr. Gerwig as a “Top 10” Workers’ Compensation attorney; American Institute of Legal Counsel named Mr. Gerwig a Workers’ Compensation “10 Best Attorney” selection for West Virginia; US News & World Report has recognized Gerwig Law Office as a “Best Law Firm”; and Best Lawyers Magazine has included Mr. Gerwig in numerous editions of the Best Lawyers in America publication. That same publication has named Mr. Gerwig, a Lawyer of the Year in the area of workers’ compensation law for his work on behalf of claimants.
