Every Charleston neighborhood has its own personality, and Wagener Terrace and Hampton Park Terrace have a charm that's hard to put into words.

Maybe it's the quiet, tree-lined streets.

Maybe it's mornings spent walking through Hampton Park or evenings grabbing dinner at one of the neighborhood's favorite local spots.

Or maybe it's the way historic homes, green spaces, and community all come together so naturally.

This part of Charleston has a way of making everyday life feel a little slower, a little more connected, and a lot more enjoyable.

If you've spent time here, what's your favorite local spot? I'd love to hear your recommendations.

Charleston has given us a lot over the years. Giving back has always been part of how we try to give something back.

From supporting local organizations like the former Florence Crittenton House and Ohm Radio to helping revitalize Wagener Terrace's Grove Street Dog Park, we've always believed that being part of a community means more than simply working here.

It means showing up. Supporting local. And helping make the places we call home a little better.

That's part of what Colony & Craft is all about.

One of my favorite community stories probably isn't the kind you'd expect to hear from a Realtor.

Back in 2016, Hurricane damage left Wagener Terrace's Grove Street Dog Park in need of some serious attention.
So we rallied the neighborhood.

Local dog lovers helped raise around $10,000, which went toward new oak trees, azaleas, and camellias throughout the park.
The best part?

The money stayed right there in the neighborhood, and those trees are still providing shade today.

It's a small reminder that sometimes making a place better starts with people simply deciding that it's worth taking care of.

When it came time to name my brokerage, I knew one thing: I didn't want it to be named after me. I wanted the name to represent something bigger than myself.

After looking through somewhere between 50 and 100 possible names, only one truly felt right.

Colony & Craft.

To me, Colony represents community, a place where people settle, build relationships, and create a sense of belonging. That's one of the things I love most about Charleston. So many people move here from somewhere else, yet quickly find a place that feels like home.

Craft represents the way I believe this work should be done, with care, intention, and attention to the details. Real estate isn't just about transactions; it's about earning trust and helping people through one of life's biggest decisions.

Those two words became more than a business name. They became the foundation of how I wanted to serve my clients from day one.

People often ask what inspired me to start Colony & Craft.

The answer isn't that I wanted to own a brokerage.

After nearly a decade with larger real estate firms, I realized the traditional sales approach simply wasn't the right fit for me. While I learned a tremendous amount during those years and remain grateful for the experience, I knew I wanted my business to be built differently.

I never wanted clients to feel pressured into making one of the biggest decisions of their lives.

I wanted them to feel informed. Supported. Confident.

I believed that giving people honest advice, even when it meant waiting for the right opportunity instead of rushing into a sale, would always be the better approach.

Would it take longer to build a successful business? Probably.
Was it worth it? Absolutely.

That belief became the foundation of Colony & Craft in 2014, and it's still the philosophy that guides me today. Thank you to everyone who's trusted me to be part of your story.

It starts with, "I'm just browsing."

Then you find a home that's bright, thoughtfully updated, and designed for everyday living.

Next thing you know... you're imagining slow mornings, peaceful evenings, and launching a kayak from your own backyard.

Some homes just have a way of changing your mind.

One of my favorite parts of this job has nothing to do with contracts or closing days.

It's getting to know the people behind the move.

Every client has a different story, different priorities, and different questions.

The more we get to know each other, the easier it becomes to navigate the process together.

You can be honest about what you're looking for, ask every question that comes to mind, and trust that I'll give you straightforward advic, not just the answer you want to hear.

Real estate is a big decision, but I don't think it has to be an intimidating one.

My goal is simple: make the process feel clear, collaborative, and a whole lot less stressful.

And if we share a few laughs along the way, even better.

Every home has a story, but not every listing tells it.

One of the biggest misconceptions about selling a home is that great marketing starts with photos or a "For Sale" sign. In reality, it starts much earlier.

It starts by understanding what makes your home different.

Maybe it's the way the natural light fills the living room each afternoon. Maybe it's the flexibility of the floor plan, the charm of the neighborhood, or the routines that naturally become part of everyday life.

Those details matter because they're what help buyers move from simply looking at a home to imagining themselves living in it.
That's the approach I believe in.

Not just marketing a property, but thoughtfully presenting the story that makes it worth remembering.

If you're thinking about selling, I'd love to help you uncover what makes your home stand out and build a strategy around it.

Every city has its own rhythm. Charleston is no different.

There are a few things you don't really read in a guidebook, you simply pick them up after spending enough time here.

You learn to plan around the summer heat, look forward to oyster roast season, keep beach essentials close by, and find those local spots that become part of your weekly routine.
It's those little habits that slowly make Charleston feel less like a destination and more like home.

Charleston locals... what unwritten rule would you add to the list?

πŸ‘‡ I'd love to hear yours.
