Please join us in welcoming Jonathan E.B. Lewis, Esq. to the Lowcountry Mediation Center volunteer mediator team!

Jonathan is the principal attorney and partner of the The Law Office of Jonathan Lewis, LLC , where he serves as a Family Law, Criminal Defense, and Civil Litigation Attorney representing individuals, families, and military service members throughout the South Carolina Lowcountry and Midlands. His commitment to service extends from his legal practice to his volunteer work with the LMC, where he helps parties navigate conflict and work toward meaningful resolution.
Jonathan brings an incredibly diverse background and wealth of experience to his work as a mediator. A graduate of Norwich University and the University of South Carolina School of Law, Jonathan has served in emergency medicine and fire/rescue, worked as a Department of Defense contractor in the Middle East, and practiced law on both sides of the criminal bar. He is also an experienced family law practitioner.

His unique professional background has given him a deep understanding of conflict, advocacy, negotiation, and the many challenges families and individuals can face when navigating the legal system. We are thrilled to have him share that experience and perspective with our mediation community.

When asked why he volunteers with the LMC, Jonathan shared:
"It is the duty of every attorney to provide pro bono services for the benefit of society, and my office has strived to fulfill this obligation every day we practice. We are proud to serve the people of South Carolina, and to assist LMC by volunteering to provide conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation services to help the people of the Lowcountry resolve their issues fairly and peacefully and reach resolution in their cases."

We couldn't agree more and we're grateful that Jonathan has chosen to put that commitment to service into action with the LMC.

Family law mediation can feel nerve-wracking, especially when you’re facing difficult conversations with someone you may not feel comfortable being around.

At the Lowcountry Mediation Center, you do not have to sit face-to-face with the other party during your mediation.

For virtual mediations, parties are placed in separate Zoom breakout rooms. For in-person mediations, parties remain in separate physical spaces. The mediator moves between the rooms, working with each party individually to discuss concerns, explore options, and help negotiate toward a resolution.

This morning, the LMC team was grateful for the opportunity to meet with our wonderful Charleston County Probate Court Judges to discuss how we can better support the important work they do through probate mediation. We appreciate their partnership and their shared commitment to helping families navigate challenging situations with care, compassion, and collaboration.

Yesterday, LMC's Executive Director, Angela Johnson, and Mediation Facilitator, Lyndsi Holst, had the opportunity to connect with fellow South Carolina Bar Foundation grantees at the Foundation's Speed Networking Event.

We loved connecting with organizations dedicated to expanding access to justice across South Carolina, especially the Upstate Mediation Center and the Midlands Mediation Center, where we had the chance to share ideas, talk shop, and learn from one another.

Thank you to the South Carolina Bar Foundation for hosting such a meaningful event—and congratulations on celebrating 55 years! We are so grateful for your continued support and investment in organizations like ours that help strengthen communities across our state.

It's hard to believe we're already halfway through 2026!

As we reflect on the first half of the year, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank our incredible volunteer attorney mediators. Despite their busy schedules, they continue to generously share their time and expertise to support our mission of providing accessible, high-quality mediation services that help individuals, families, and communities find fair and lasting solutions outside of court.

Simply put, we could not do this work without them. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving our community make a meaningful difference every single day, and we are truly grateful.
