15 years. And still raising the bar.

We are proud to share that Susan E. Petersen has been selected to the 2027 Ohio Super Lawyers list for the 15th year and, for the second consecutive year, named among the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Ohio.

We could have celebrated with a headshot.

This photograph—from Susan’s 2026 argument before the Supreme Court of Ohio—felt more fitting.

Because the recognition is meaningful.

But the work behind it means more.

Congratulations, Susan.

The crash may be over.

The investigation is just beginning.

Video. Electronic data. Driver communications. Training records. Maintenance. Company policies.

A crash report tells part of the story.

We want the rest.

A medical record.
A crash report.
A corporate explanation.

They tell you what someone says happened.

Our job is to find out what actually happened.

31 years together. 27 years married. Partners in life—and partners in law.

Along the way, we’ve raised four kids, built a law firm, tried cases, celebrated victories, weathered hard days, disagreed plenty, laughed even more—and kept choosing each other.

After 31 years, there’s a shorthand between us that can’t be manufactured. We know how the other thinks. We challenge each other. We see different things. And that partnership has become part of what our clients get when they choose Petersen & Petersen.

Four kids. 27 years of marriage. 31 years together. One law firm.

Still digging deeper—together.

Happy anniversary to us. ❤️

Behind every result is a life interrupted—and a future that must be rebuilt.

The number in the image is significant. But it is not the most important part of the story.

What matters are the people who trusted us during one of their most difficult chapters of life. The responsibility we accepted. The questions that had to be asked. The evidence that had to be uncovered. And the relentless determination to keep going until the case was fully understood, the truth was uncovered, and the client’s future was protected.

We are deeply grateful for that trust—and immensely proud of the extraordinary work of Attorney Susan Petersen and our Petersen & Petersen investigative team. When others would have stopped looking for answers, we keep digging.

A serious trucking case is not just about the moment of impact.

It is about what happened before.

Who hired the driver?
What training was provided?
What records existed?
What communications occurred?
What was produced — and what was not?

In a case involving FedEx and its delivery network, the court entered four sanctions orders. Defendants later agreed to pay Plaintiffs’ counsel $180,134.19 in requested fees and expenses.

For us, the lesson is simple: the truth is often found in what was missing.

At Petersen & Petersen, we look past the first explanation. We follow the evidence, ask the next question, and keep digging.

Because accountability begins with the truth.

A photograph can show the evidence. Litigation reveals the story behind it.

In a prior fatal natural gas home explosion case handled by Petersen & Petersen, investigators identified an uncapped gas line behind a newly installed electric dryer. The valve was found partially open.

But the case was never just about the pipe.

Through sworn testimony and internal company documents, our firm pursued the deeper questions: who performed the work as to delivery of new electric dryer and removal/haul away of old gas dryer, who was responsible for the delivery chain, what training and supervision was involved, what safety rules applied, and why those rules were not followed.

Gas explosion cases demand immediate evidence preservation, technical experts, and a willingness to uncover the full story.

The case resulted in a $17,000,000 wrongful death settlement during trial.

We dig deeper.
