Saturdays are for slowing down.

This week was full of conversations, deals, and pushing things forward but today is about taking a step back. Reflection isn’t just about looking at what got done, it’s about making space to recharge so you can come back stronger.

As Anne Lamott once said, “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.”

So I’m taking today to pause, breathe, and reset for the week ahead.

In business and in life, confidence will open doors. It’s what gets people to listen to you, take your call, or consider your offer.

But confidence without integrity is just noise.
Integrity is following through on what you say you’ll do. It’s being the same person behind closed doors as you are in public. It’s doing the right thing even when nobody’s watching.

When you pair confidence with integrity, you don’t just build a network, you build a reputation. In my business, your reputation is worth more than any single deal.

So as you close out the week, ask yourself:
Did I show up with confidence?
Did I back it up with integrity?

“L𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁.”

Most investors I talk to have no idea where their retirement money actually is.
It’s sitting in a Vanguard or Fidelity account, doing whatever Wall Street wants it to do.
Stocks, mutual funds, target-date funds they don’t even understand.
And every year?
Fees. Management charges. Expense ratios.
All quietly nibbling away at their nest egg while some guy in a suit thanks them for their business.

Here’s the thing.
A self-directed IRA or Solo 401(k) lets you choose where that money goes.
✅ You can put it into real estate.
✅ Private lending.
✅ Notes.
Things you actually understand.

No begging permission from some broker who’s never set foot on a job site.
No getting sold on the “diversified” mutual fund that’s really just their firm’s commission machine.

You know what else?
Fees are a fraction of what Wall Street skims off you.
You pay for the structure and the transaction, not some endless percentage of your wealth every year.

You keep control.
You make the calls.
You can actually use your money to fund your deals or partner in others.

I’m not here to tell you to fire your financial advisor tomorrow.
But if you’re serious about building wealth with real estate, maybe it’s time to ask why you’re letting Wall Street take their cut while you wait around hoping your index fund does 7 percent.

“T𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗬𝗢𝗨.”

When I first tried to raise private money, I did it all wrong.

I pitched too hard. Sounded desperate.
One guy even told me straight up: “I don’t invest in deals where the person sounds like they need me.”

That stung....

I went home that night and rewrote everything about my approach.
I stopped “pitching” and started presenting opportunities.

Here’s what changed:
✅ I built a real track record, even small wins counted.
✅ I focused on relationships first, deals second.
✅ I shared my process, not just my profit.
✅ I showed exactly how their money would be protected.

Pretty soon, something weird happened:
They started asking me when my next deal was coming.

That’s the secret. You don’t sell private money. You attract it.

Because real lenders aren’t looking for desperate borrowers.
They’re looking for safe, credible partners.

If you want to stop chasing money and start attracting it, invest in your reputation first.

Your deals will thank you later.

Elchonon “Elie” Schwartz, head of a real estate investment firm, was sentenced to over 7 years in prison for defrauding investors in Atlanta and Miami. He misused funds raised through crowdfunding, diverting them into personal accounts instead of designated property investments.
