Very busy day in the office today! I'm meeting with five clients to execute their estate planning documents and have another appointment with an existing client to work on updating her estate planning documents. Trying to work in a variety of other work in between and, perhaps, later tonight.

As you many of you may know, I have been teaching Business Law at Kirkwood Community College and Business Law & Ethics at Upper Iowa University for several years. As chance should happen, I have been offered a full-time teaching position with the University of Northern Iowa as an Assistant Professor of Practice in Business Law to begin this Fall. I'm very excited for this opportunity and have been somewhat overwhelmed by the support and welcoming attitude I've had from the staff and faculty at UNI so far.

Though I won't be able to continue teaching at Kirkwood or Upper Iowa, I do plan to continue my private practice, albeit in a limited capacity. I'll continue to provide services for estate planning (Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, etc.), small business/non-profit organization (Articles of Incorporation, By-Laws, Partnership Agreements, etc.) , and other issues as I feel are appropriate.

I look forward to the opportunity to continue to work with my existing and future clients in and around East Central Iowa. Thank you and enjoy your day!

I work with a number of other professionals (bankers, attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, insurance agents, etc.) to try to bring our mutual clients a coordinated estate planning effort. Today I received a call from Beth Moores of BMF Tax & Accounting, LLC to help one of her clients. Unfortunately, Beth's client is dealing with terminal health issues and has serious concerns about her existing estate plans. As the client is unable to travel, I will be meeting with her and her husband in their home to review their existing legal documents and answer any questions that they may have. This is a little unusual but, in light of their circumstances, I'm happy to make this accommodation to help bring them some comfort that their concerns are being addressed.
