What happens when Elon Musk comes to a small Texas town?
We don't have to guess.
We can look at Bastrop.
A few years ago, Bastrop was known for pine trees, ranches, the Colorado River and its small-town character.
Then SpaceX and The Boring Company started putting down roots.
Now there are major manufacturing operations, new housing, new development and millions of dollars of investment.
But here's the question I'm really interested in:
Did Elon Musk actually change Bastrop?
Or was Bastrop already headed in this direction?
I've been mapping the development around Bastrop, and the story gets much more interesting when you look beyond the factories.
Jobs create people.
People create demand.
Demand creates housing, retail, services and infrastructure.
Eventually, the map starts to change.
That's the part I'm investigating.
Because if we can understand what happened in Bastrop, we might learn something about what could happen next in places like Grimes County.
And that's important when you're thinking about real estate.
You shouldn't only ask:
“What's here today?”
You should also ask:
“What's coming?”
Bastrop is the next case study in my series exploring Elon Musk's growing footprint in Texas and what it could mean for real estate.
So here's my question for you:
Do you think Elon Musk changed Bastrop, or did he simply accelerate growth that was already happening?
