Please join us in wishing Terry Osmundson a happy and well-deserved retirement. Terry has been an important part of the Trent Law Firm, PLLC team since 2021, most recently serving as the primary legal assistant for our family law team. During her time here, she shared not only her knowledge and experience but also her warmth, humor, and dedication to helping both clients and coworkers alike.
Terry brought an incredible 36 years of legal experience to Trent Law Firm, PLLC. Prior to joining our firm, she worked at Swisher & Cohrt, P.L.C. from May 2008 through July 2021, and before that at Fulton, Frerichs, Martin & Andres, P.C. (later known as Fulton, Martin & Andres, P.C.) from October 1990 to May 2008. To put that into perspective, when Terry began her legal career in 1990, gas was $1.22 per gallon, a postage stamp cost $.25, movie tickets were $4.22, and George H. W. Bush was in the White House.
Throughout her career, Terry worked alongside attorneys in an impressive variety of practice areas. She has experience in district court, bankruptcy court, and the Iowa Division of Workers’ Compensation courts. In fact, it seems like she has worked in nearly every area of law except immigration and employment Law. Over the years, Terry also witnessed — and successfully adapted to — countless changes in the legal profession: from typewriters to computers, from fully in-person offices to remote work, from paper filings to electronic court filings, from courthouse hearings to Zoom hearings, and from WordPerfect to case management software powered by artificial intelligence.
Terry will be greatly missed not only for her hardworking and knowledgeable assistance, but also for the positivity and fun she brought to the office every day. As she begins this next chapter, Terry plans to take some well-earned time to rest and recharge before diving into writing projects and enjoying more time with her husband, Joel, along with their children and grandchildren.
