Yesterday Travis Studdard spent the day on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. meeting with House and Senate offices seeking their support and co-sponsorship for the GUARD VA Benefits Act. This proposed legislation would provide criminal penalties for “claims consultants” and “claims coaches” companies who are not accredited by VA and illegally charge fees to disabled veterans. Travis and other members of the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates were seeking co-sponsors and broader support for the bill. Travis met with the offices of Rep. Drew Ferguson (GA), House Speaker Mike Johnson (LA), Rep. Gooden (TX), House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (LA), Sen. Bill Cassidy (LA), and Sen. John Cornyn (TX).
