October 28, 2019 was a great day. My client, Adesile Solawon, was facing three separate cases of sexual assault. He was acquitted of all charges in one case, while the prosecutor declined to prosecute the other two cases. Throughout the proceedings, I maintained my client's innocence and I am extremely thankful to God that an innocent man is not going to jail.

This morning, I received a post on Whatsapp that an immigration raid was taking place in a train station in New York City. The person that sent the message included a video showing the police tangling with people in a train station as evidence but it appears the person forwarded the message before watching the video. The signs in the train station were written in french while the word "Inspector" on the vests of some police officers was also in french; the last I checked, NYC was English-speaking. Furthermore, ICE, not local police, would typically conduct immigration raids. So, before permitting social media to cause us to panic, let us strain the forwarded messages we receive through the sieve of reason.

Remember, while it is true that there would be some tightening in the enforcement of the immigration laws, the legal profession would not sit on the sidelines and watch this administration do as it pleases, and we have demonstrated that we are going to hold this administration to the promises of the U.S. constitution.
