I am a family law attorney focusing on divorce cases and prenuptial agreements. I have been practicing for 16 years. I am certified as a family law specialist by the CA State Bar.
For divorce cases, I work primarily with clients who have chosen to resolve the case through mediation. As consulting counsel, I advise one of the parties regarding their rights and strategies while they go through the mediation process.
For prenuptial agreements, I primarily assist as reviewing counsel for one of the parties. As a litigation attorney who has seen various prenuptial agreements invalidated by the court at the time of divorce, I look for ways to strengthen the prenuptial agreement so it won’t be invalid later.

Downloading a template online and filling in the blanks almost always leads to an invalid prenuptial agreement! Many people think a prenuptial agreement is an easy process that they can speed through. It is a complex document that can alter every right you have to property (both real and personal) acquired during the marriage. It can also alter the duration and amount of spousal support received upon divorce.
Also, waiting until the last minute to start the prenuptial agreement is always a mistake! Give yourself (and your attorneys) time to prepare, review, and negotiate the agreement. Rushing through the process can invalidate the agreement later.
